Beats Per Minute Calculators

Getting music at the right speed for your dog is very important, particularly for Musical Dressage and Heelwork to Music. Annie Clayton’s article on the Metronome explains how to calculate your dog’s speed.

To help with calculating the speed of the music you want to use here are 3 useful tools.

On Screen BPM Counter

You can use this simple counter to estimate the BPM of any piece of music. Click in the Timing Taps box, and then just tap your spacebar (or any other key) in time with the music. To start again, just pause for at least 2 seconds and continue tapping.

BPM Calculating Software

You can download a small free program that will analyse all the music on your PC and calculate the Beats Per Minute for you. You can then save this information as a text file for future reference. Paws N Music has permission from the publishers of this software to make this download available.
